Lets you name a turn, a floor, a place in line, a room or an address block.
- bannumber (in a sequence); turn

Mix-ups Floor -kai sounds like 'times' -kai; sangai is 3rd floor but sankai is three times.
ban
number (in a sequence); turn
After a number for numbered things like platforms and lines (sanban = number 3); dare no ban = whose turn.
No sound changes; which number is nanban. Ichiban also means 'most, best'.

floor (of a building)
ikkai, nikai, sangai, yonkai, gokai, rokkai, nanakai, hakkai, kyuukai, jukkai; which floor is nangai; basement 1 is chika ikkai.
Japan counts the ground floor as ikkai, so nikai is the British first floor. Sangai (3rd floor) voices; sankai (three times) does not.

-th (position in order): first, second, third
ichibanme, nibanme, sanbanme ...; which one in order is nanbanme.
With native numbers, -me does the same job: futatsume = the second one.

After the number on a door: hotel rooms, flats, classrooms; which room is nangoushitsu.
Room numbers are often read digit by digit with maru for zero: nimaruichi.

Comes after the district name: sanchoume; the changes are itchoume, hatchoume, jutchoume; which block is nanchoume.
Mostly heard when giving or reading an address.
