Idioms

The Japanese idioms people say most: set phrases that don’t mean what the words say, like atama ni kuru (it comes to my head: I’m furious) or saba o yomu (count the mackerel: fudge the numbers), plus the sayings and four-character phrases heard in everyday talk.

365 idioms in 86 chunks, chosen by how often people say them, and ordered into four stages that run alongside the main list’s stages. Each chunk is a short page; use Next at the bottom of each page.
