Mix-ups Henji is any reply; henshin is only a reply to a message.

Any reply, spoken or written, including answering when your name is called; often 'henji suru'.
For texts and emails, henshin is more specific.

henshin
reply (to a text or email)
Usually 'henshin suru' or 'henshin ga kuru' (get a reply).
Same sound as henshin 'transformation', as in superheroes.
kanojo kara mada henshin konai.
She still hasn't replied.

How someone reacts to news, a joke or a message; hannou ga nai = no response.
Hannou suru = react.
