Mix-ups me ni au uses 遭う (run into trouble), not 会う (meet someone).

Getting away from danger or a place, or ducking a hard situation.
nigeru na! (don't run away!) is a stock drama line. Also 'avoid facing': genjitsu kara nigeru (run from reality).
koko wa abunai, hayaku nigete!
It's dangerous here, get out quick!

Mostly heard in crime dramas, and as an angry threat: korosu zo!
Passive korosareru: be killed. Also 'hold back': koe o korosu (keep your voice down).

He's someone who wouldn't hurt a fly.

Often passive: X ni makikomareru (get caught up in an accident, a fight, trouble).
jiko ni makikomareta: got caught up in an accident.
gomen, hen na koto ni makikonjatta.
Sorry for dragging you into this mess.

sumimasen, hen na koto ni makikonde shimaimashita.

Always after a describing word: hidoi me ni au (have an awful time), abunai me ni au (have a close call).
au here is 遭う (run into trouble), not 会う (meet someone).
kinou hidoi me ni atta yo.
I had an awful time yesterday.
昨日ひどい目に遭ったよ。
kinou wa hidoi me ni aimashita.
I had an awful time yesterday.
昨日はひどい目に遭いました。
