Masks and glasses

Collocations, Stage 4chunk 4 of 25Clothes & wearing

Two on/off pairs for the face: a mask goes on with suru, glasses with kakeru, and both come off with hazusu.

Mix-ups suru vs kakeru for putting on, one shared hazusu for taking off; never nugu, which is for clothes and shoes.

Mostly heard as masuku hazushite (take your mask off) or hazushite mo ii? (OK if I take it off?). masuku hazushita kao (someone's face without the mask) comes up a lot too, as in masuku hazushita kao hajimete mita (first time I've seen your face without the mask). masuku hazushiteru means the mask is already off. Casual speech drops o.
